Worked perfectly. As you mention, parallels gave me the option to run a virtual machine. Once I clicked this, it suggested bootcamp. It installed everything automatically and works perfect.
It was getting old having to restart every time if I had to use something in Windows.

It works fine. In fact, games run faster on Windows than OS-X, for the most part. I've played a variety of games on Windows XP, Windows 7, and OS-X, and the nVidia 8800 GT does a fine job. Maybe not as well as the more modern GPUs, but it does well enough (Portal 2 runs on High for everything, excluding Shadows at Medium, and x2 AA).

after more testing and countless attempts are fixing the computer (even replacing IC's that seemed broken) had some times not having the computer turn on at all.... anyway I was able to spot a tiny little short on the board at the top of the board. jumpered it and voila! computer works again.

You could try verifying the disk using disk utility to check for errors.

Ok, so here is the situation....
We use filemaker pro to run a set of databases to manage the timing for a mountain bike race. One database contains a list of rider and another contains a record for each lap that is completed. These laps are then sorted in various ways to compile results in a pdf form. These pdfs are then hosted on a local intranet at the race so people can use their wifi devices to look up the results. The problem is that these pdfs then have to be updated manually and transferred to a separate computer to host the intranet website which only gets done about every hour or so. People want live results (or semi-live) and I can't think of a way to do this. Users can't access the databases directly as this would cripple the network (there are like 10,000 records). I am thinking exporting new results at regular intervals to an SQL database and then hosting that on the intranet via a php website of some sort. However my knowledge of SQL and PHP are very limited... any suggestions would be kindly appreciated.

I have a first-generation Airport Extreme n base station, that recently has developed something of a problem. The router works fine in terms of networking, internet access, etc.
The problem is it can't be configured. If I try to add a MAC address to the access list, add an Airport Express to extend the range, or set up port-forwarding to let me SSH into my machine, the following happens:
1. Click Reset
2. The router goes offline, says its restarting, but the Airport Configuration Utility never picks it back up. The status light flashes Amber, and while we can connect to the network, there is no outgoing internet connection - all the computers have a self-assigned IP.
3. Eventually, I have to reset the router via unplugging it. The green light comes back, all is well, but whatever changes to the router's setting I made are gone.
If I reset the router to factory settings, I have a window of about one restart to make all my changes, and then the same problem sets in.
Any idea what is happening? How to fix it? Or is my router just at the end of it's useful life?

I just received my iPad 2 in the mail yesterday. I have an original iPad which I have given to my wife. I set up my new iPad from a backup from my original iPad and everything worked fine except 3G. I was unable to set up a 3G account with AT&T because there was no cell number assigned to my new iPad 2.
I thought it was operator error so I restored the iPad 2 and set it up as a new iPad. Same problem. When I look under general settings>about>cellular number it says unknown. Is it possible Apple never assigned a cellular number to my new iPad 2? Anyone else have this problem? Called AT&T and they were no help. I have a genius bar appointment this afternoon, but would like to be able to fix this myself. Please help!

Ok, so just over a year ago I bought an pay as you go iPhone from o2 (in the UK). I paid up the cash for them to unlock it so that I could use it on other networks. I received the confirmation and it seemed to work fine. A year later I've been having some problems with my phone backing up in iTunes. I decided to do a restore, that's where things went bad. After the 'restore' I get the message:
'We're sorry, the iPhone you connected may be damaged and cannot be activated for service. We recommend you visit your nearest Apple Store.'
I haven't tried to jailbreak my phone, everything on it has been legitimate with the latest firmware etc.
Any ideas? It's out of warranty and I'm also outside the country I bought it in so I guess no Apple store here (I'm in China) will touch it. I'm not sure it is a hardware problem as the signs seem to point towards activation issues, even though my phone was officially unlocked by my carrier.

It's an attractive product, but seems not to have gotten much in the way of reviews or discussion, let alone promotion by vendors.
I opted for a normal external drive from OWC that I've plugged into the USB port on my TC. Works fine, but I need to get a hub so I can add back the printer.

Hi everyone!
I am a bit new to Illustrator, and graphic design, but I've been using it long enough to know that the paintbrush tool is not working. Whenever I press on it in the tool bar, and/or press b, and it just gives me this symbol, and makes a line while I'm drawing, but the line goes away after.
I've done a software updates for Adobe and my Mac, restarted Illustrator, restarted my computer, and it just doesn't work!
FYI: it has the same symbol when I go into the pencil tool (I don't know if it is the right one for the pencil either.)

Just resize the window then. In case you're really new to Macs, that's done by dragging the bottom right corner of the window. The gray border will shrink as the window approaches the size of the image.

Ordered my first ever iMac yesterday, 27'' top bto, with i7, and 2gig graphics. Cannot wait.
