Can't you pull the hard drive out of the PC and put it in the imac? Sounds to me like the logic board may have gone out on your PC. That is similar to how our PC acted when that happened. If you think it would boot from the CD-ROM, you could put a knoppix LiveCD in there to boot off linux and remove the songs, but sounds like your PC won't boot.

Not sure if this is the correct thread - if not please move, or inform me of the proper thread.
Anyways...when my most recent itunes receipt arrived it had several purchases on there that I did not make - they were mostly for camera and video apps and my ipod does not even have a camera! The only good news is that I only use gift cards to purchase apps - so I have no credit card info on there. I have contacted apple and await their responce.
So:
#1. has anyone heard of this?
#2. Any way to rectify the situation, or find out who made the purchases?
#3. Any suggestions as to how to prevent this from happening again?
thanks,
Art Teacher Man

So a year and a half ago i switched. Everyone i know loved my powermac, my best friend got an ibook, my girlfriend just bought the new 800mhz cdrom ibook, then 4 months ago we found a 733 quicksilver in the paper, my mom took a chance and fell in love with it. Well since then i have added a powerbook, and my mom just replaced her work toshiba with a 12 inch powerbook too! We are now a 4 mac family (5 if you count the girlfriend)! we still have an old viao desktop and my sister just got a viao laptop for graduation, but she wasnt computer savy and going to college, it was best to leave her as compitable as possible. Thats all folks! just wanted to share, i know apple is headed the right way, people see a mac, use a mac and they want a mac.

Why on earth would an external hard drive speed up anything? If you need a ton of storage, a backup drive (say for Time Machine, extra music/videos/etc), or just want some insurance against hard drive failure, get an external drive.
But buying one and hooking it up to the Dell or a new MBP isn't going to do anything to make them faster, and it certainly won't fix a year old Dell that's breaking down.
I've yet to buy a PC notebook that has lasted for over a year. It seems like the day that year warranty expires is when they break down. Hard drive failure, hardware issues, etc. That's why I switched to a Mac, which has been going strong since I got it.
Take the money you'd spend on a hard drive and put it towards a MBP. It's a much better investment, as I guarantee the Dell will only get worse.
This is completely true, and I've just been hoping that the Dell would get better, but I will be buying a Macbook this year sometime, thx for the comment, I'm glad I know I'm not the only one :P .

What templates are you referring to? If you mean in the iLife or iWork apps, yes, those are all royalty free for commercial or personal use. However, things like the desktop pictures, etc, are not. Be a little more specific and maybe we can tell you for sure.

I might wait until 4.3 too, but depending on what jailbreak apps you use, it might be just as easy to start fresh. Do a fresh sync/backup with iTunes, then do a DFU restore/update with iTunes to get a fresh 4.2.1 install. Someone else chime in on if the DFU is necessary..I think it would be in order to restore the bootware thats booted in jailbreak mode.
Let all the apps/music/etc sync from iTunes, then go the GreenPoison process again (download the new version of the program).
After you reopen Cydia, go to "purchase" the apps again and it will recognize that you already bought them and allow a reinstall. Note that using this method will delete any personalization on the apps. I just use WifiSync and MyWi though, so this wouldn't bother me.

Make sure Maps has all the permissions, beyond that I will have to think about it. I had a similar issue quite a while ago but I do not know what triggered it.
By hard reset do you mean taking it back to factory default settings?
Yes it has all permissions. Back hard reset I mean holding both buttons until the apple logo comes up. I've been JB'd for over 1 year w/o an issues, not sure what's going on :(

Update: Redsn0w is recognizing the ipsw, I didn't have the latest version of redsn0w, now I do and that problem is solved, however my phone still isn't going into DFU mode, and I'm still on 4.2.1

Hi all,
I'm looking for a software solution to work on scanned pages containing images and text. I want to be able to edit the text and the images easily.
I have a Canon DR-2010 and use Readiris 12 for OCR, but I can't export to Pages.
Should I go for Office for Mac or Photoshop or ...?
Anybody out there having done that?
Thanks.
Claus

Dowload PDANet in the Android Market and iBluever in Cydia. PDANet turns your phone into a bluetooth dial-up network and iBluever is the app the will create the connection on the iPad.

I have Fusion 3 (via bootcamp) and housemate has Parallels (don't know what version). He wasn't happy with Parallels, but It also has gone through a number of revisions since. All the reviews say they are pretty much neck and neck for performance. It's just a choice of preference in the interface.
any experience running playon with either one of those? its a streming client with tons of channels, i ask because i am looking at running one of them in order to stream playon!
thanks

You can also put a bad APN in to prevent it.

hey guys. I searched around and couldn't find a post with this.
My xbox360 just died yesterday.. and since PSN is still down.. I want to watch netflix on my tv. I have the 2011 MBP.. and the HDMI adaptor. I can get video and audio to my tv without a problem. Now, is there anyway to make the output to 16:9 for my tv? When I made netflix full screen.. it cut off top part of Safari.. and the bottom part.
Any answers?
This should be a slam dunk, but a lot depends on your TV.
Make sure you select the appropriate screen resolution for your TV. Snow Leopard has 1080p and 720p selections. Second, make sure you correct for overscan. Your TV may have the ability to do 1:1 pixel mapping. On my Sharp, I use the "format" button to toggle through the settings. There is also an overscan button in the Display preference on the Mac, that could help too.
