The iPad launch seems that much closer now that our Australian prices are finally out!

I would love to be at the Sydney store launch just for the atmosphere of it all, but unfortunately I live 7 hours away and have school on Friday so don't think I'll be heading there. Hoping to get my hands on an iPad 2 ASAP though. Fingers crossed! :D

bought imac in may, put 2 sticks of crucial 1 gig sticks popped them in felt the change, now its just kinda boggy ilooked at my activity monitor nothing out of the usual, i did have a few widgets up that i didnt know that were runnign i turned them off now i can feel a little bit of a change but with 2 gigs i would think this sucker would fly
Try taking that RAM out and putting the original Apple RAM back in (if you still have it). Atlease this will tell you if it is the RAM or not.

Yeah, I did that, and it had already been unchecked. They're still not working even with that unchecked.

Good question, I assume they must set out to achieve a target average volume. As for who defines the volume, I can't tell you. I'd guess there's probably an "industry" standard for TV, however since DVDs and CDs vary in volume quite a lot, I highly doubt there's such a thing for them.
This is just pure speculation, makes sense to me anyway.

Hi,
I am about to submit an application to Mac App Store. My client wants the settings to reside in "System Preferences". Is this allowed in Mac App Store?
If it is allowed, then the system preferences settings is a bundle. How can I make sure that when the application is first run, this bundle will be run? Also, how do I include this in the source code i send to apple?

recently, I've noticed that my 2009 MacBook draws a lot of battery power when it's in standby mode (sleeping with the lid open). I know that they are supposed to sleep for a long time, but when I leave the lid open and it falls asleep, the computer draws battery power even faster than if the computer was being used. Does anyone know what may cause this rapid battery drain?

Alan Wake is a game that grabs you as soon as it starts. The first thing to note is that this game looks absolutely beautiful. Voice quality is one of the best I have heard in any game. About Alan Wake is credible. And the most important story is excellent.

Lossless definitely sounds better than 192Kbps mp3 encoding, when there is a good source. The file size will always be larger since it doesn't lose any quality.

I dedicate 7CPUS at 100% all the time in 10.5.5 (none of that background malarkey) ;) - I keep one CPU for OS and stuff and only shut Seti off when I need more horsepower

The only change that I would predict would be the move to a 166MHz system bus and an ability to clock slightly higher. Motorola hasn't yet updated their site with information on the 7455, so one could presume that Apple is preventing Motorola from releasing such information to the public. Quite possibly, the 7455 has clocked to 1.33 or 1.4GHz, but due to an agreement with Apple, Motorola must withold such information until faster PowerMacs are shipping.

So...I thought that with the popularity of digital books I'd check out some and see if I should start reading them instead of print.
But it's a fail; they seem to be nothing but digitized books. For a considerable sum of money. I had thought that by now someone would be creating a real electronic book, something intended to be read with an iPad or Kindle or something. Printed material in books, magazines and newspapers is optimized for those forms; ebooks are just dreck. Yeah, I can search. Or bookmark. BFD.
Are there any examples of someone writing a book that isn't either a digitized version of a paperback, or a glorified web page? I'd like to see a version of the Odyssey, for example, where it could switch back and forth between languages, or had contextual maps, or would pronounce names for you, or whatever. Something that could exploit what an electronic device can do, in a way that adds to the content but doesn't distract you. Anything?

Has anyone at the show done 'About This Mac' on a MacBook Air?
I would have thought that the new trackpad options would need new software, but I'm guessing someone would have noticed by now.
(Unless they are just using a bespoke 10.5.1 for the show models, and 10.5.2 will come out when they are actually shipped...?)
My guess is that it's just a driver that was installed, not a new OS version yet.

I'm not sure if this is normal, but I had some random add popup while on these forums - one of the "will scroll down on your screen with your scrolling" type. I have never received one of these on this forum before and am not sure if this is supposed to happen. Unfortunately I did not screen shot it or really read it other than to remember it had a lot of green and was some sort of "Rate this" ad.
