You think his fat ass would blend?

Can't believe MacRumors wrote a story on this. Werenn't the 2 or 3 threads on it enough?

I agree. MacRumors should delete this video. This is inhumane treatment of an inanimate Apple object, and should be punishable under federal law!

I don't get you guys. If holywood destroys lots of cars and buildings and all kinds of stuff to make movies, just to entertain people it's ok... but if somebody destroy an iPad for the same reason (entertainment) than it's an horrible example of decadence and wastefulness...

But this is Apple we're talking about! The money that went into that iPad literally could have fed 250 starving children. But instead, it went into some guys blender. Talk about putting money down the drain!

I love how worked up people get over trivial things like this.

Saw one comment on this saying that here in the UK Apple have had to recall all the iPads because of wireless issues, leaving the customers furious, which is funny because it hasn't even been released yet... But I guess it's true, it is on the internet after all

Gotta love fanboys, either side of the spectrum you're guaranteed a laugh :D

I see that there are lots of angry people over there. Especially because of Outlook in this Office 2011. I don't use Outlook, but Word and Excel are my tools. I can say that i got almost no annoyances when working with them...

What? They took it, against the will of many.

Against the will of who? Read a history book...

The modern State of Israel was declared in 1948, and traces its historical and religious roots to the Biblical Land of Israel, also known as Zion, a concept central to Judaism since ancient times.[9][10][11] Political Zionism took shape in the late-19th century Europe under Theodor Herzl, and the Balfour Declaration of 1917 formalized British policy preferring the establishment of a national home for the Jewish people. Following World War I, the League of Nations granted Great Britain the Mandate for Palestine, which included responsibility for securing "the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people".[12] In November 1947, the United Nations voted in favor of the partition of Palestine, proposing the creation of a Jewish state, an Arab state, and a UN-administered Jerusalem.

The partitioning didn't go well though, the Palestinians weren't fond of the idea. Which created the mess there is today.

So Eraserhead, seems that we can credit your lovely nation, the UK, for the creation of Israel. Congrats!

They would have to kill a lot of Palestinians if that were to happen (and Israel were to remain a Jewish state).

Why would they have to kill them??

RAIN RAIN RAIN! LET IT RAIN, LET IT RAIN, LET IT RAIN!

Supposed to later but it looks and feels like another clear one to me. Here's hoping though.

45 minutes till play resumes. I bet Giles and Jones had trouble sleeping last night. I got the train this morning at Putney and it was even more packed than yesterday with people on their way to Vauxhall for the day. Gits.

To all the US members lost here, this is the game where you can play five matches at five days a piece and still draw!! Brilliant.

Uh oh. Looks like I struck a nerve, right where it hurts (the ego), to a luxury car driver.

Acura's are made with Honda parts. So why don't they cost as much as Hondas? Because you're paying for the "prestige" of showing off to other people how you can afford a higher car payment than them.

Ever read The Millionaire Next Door? It's a book about fiscal responsibility and the traits of those that have it and the traits of those that don't. 95% of millionaires in the U.S. don't drive luxury cars. They have more sense than that. It's the wannabees and people that place ego above fiscal responsibility that spend more than they have to on an automobile.

Simple as that. Don't like it, take it up with the PhD's that researched and wrote the book. Sorry to call you out on why exactly you pulled the trigger on your ill-advised purchase. I'm not coming on here saying I'm perfect. I have my flaws too. It's just that one of them isn't the overpowering desire to impress others with my material goods at all costs.

You're making a straw man argument by bringing up the Honda/Acura comparison. That's not what people have been arguing. People have been arguing that there *is* something unique about the Mac product *itself* that isn't tied to the branding or the perceived "prestige".

As I mentioned before, it's like comparing a fully loaded Ford Taurus with an entry level BMW. Driving a Ford Taurus is never going to *feel* like driving a BMW. The handling is going to feel totally different. Believe or not, some car buyers are loyal to a particular brand and are willing to pay more, for reasons that have nothing to do with prestige. I mentioned BMW's handling but it could be something else like: safety (e.g. Volvo, at least in the old days), reliability (e.g. Lexus, consistently top rated by Consumer Reports), comfort/smooth ride (e.g. Mercedes). The point is, you're missing the point if you think a Mac's appeal is only as a status symbol.

Xserve lags so far behind the Mac Pro in release, costs much more, has little to make it better and just as much to make it worse. I would love to have an Xserve, but I don't understand why anyone would buy one.

Do a little research and you will find this is a incredibly well engineered server. I have read a couple reviews and it looks like it will be a big hit with IT pros. That may not be easily understood, or appreciated by others.

    http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/news/337100,fight-register-budweiser-eu.html

I am glad that at least in Europe this travesty daring to call itself beer will not be allowed to sully the name of Budweis. The true, real Budweiser (Budweiser Budvar Brewery) is actually a very tasty Lager unlike that deer piss Anheuser Busch sells in the US, which under the rules of the bavarian purity manifest isn't even beer at all.
    Awesome.
    Cheers,

    Ahmed

Ugh, has to be one of the worst beers out there.

All beer sucks. That beer has been dressing itself up like wine for the last few decades or so is hysterical. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. IMO, there's no difference between Budweiser and Chimay, except that Chimay manages to be even more disgusting. Don't even get me started on crap like Guinness. And before anyone says anything, I used to work in good restaurants for 20 years, I've had just about every beer you can think of- all of them are nasty. Beer is the only beverage that tastes even worse the more you pay. Hey- I tried it. :p:p:p:p

Beer is easily the worst alcoholic beverage on the face of the planet, right next to grappa.

Now now... this sounds more like a personel preference then fact. I can say the same about whiskey or scotch. Don't like the taste. I can say I have grown more custom to the darker beers. And comparing Budweiser which is a lager to Chimay which is a belgium ale is trully disrespectiful to the beer gods! :D

There are sooooo many different type of beers out there also. Just like there is of other types of alcohol.

Grrrrr! Of course Apple updated the Shuffle. I just bought one two weeks ago. I got mine used at least, and I got an external battery pack for my 1GB, $71.50 incl shipping on eBay.

But still, I've been waiting for almost a year now for them to release a new version. I wanted something more like the old design though, w/ the USB plug. Just thinner and in black.

    Super basic.

    Better exception handling in Finder.

When you copy files and some already exist, rather than terminating the action with no clue what was the hold-up, complete it with a list of exceptions for dealing with as a separate matter.

There are other examples of where exception handling could be added.

Think of all the features we had under text based computers that were LOST when we went to graphical based computers, and reinstall them.

Even though many of the files are media, their names are text. :D

    Funny suggestion: Finder personalities.

There was really no surprise to spoil. We've all known about this for a year or so (or at least had a pretty good feeling). I mentioned it on my website a month ago: www.adamcz.net/stocks

EDIT: I'd also like to add, that I find it interesting that we're simultaneously entering an era of Blu Ray/HDDVD and low quality downloads. I just bought my first HDTV, and I really want to make good use of it. I've therefore got no interest in downloading a movie that is inferior to DVD quality. I think they might as well target only ipods with this service, or make sure their files look good on big tvs. I don't see a lot of marketshare for the in-between.

There is so much engineering and math fail here. I'm not even sure where to start

Regarding C02 emissions, there are a variety of sources for C02 for each car driven. You two are missing one of the main comparison sources for hybrid vs non-hybrid vehicles, that being C02 produced during the production process for the vehicle itself. This is a non-insignificant percentage and one of the primary reasons hybrid vehicles do not blow away their conventional counterparts in terms of carbon footprint. This article here (http://theage.drive.com.au/motor-news/honda-defends-hybrid-co2-output-20100625-z4bq.html) has some interesting numbers. Google and you can find more on this topic.

Second, looking at energy efficiency, you guys are looking at such a small portion of what you'd need to do to fully actually compare things. For an electric car, there are a lot of losses downstream - the powerplant (coal is about 30-40% efficiency btw, quick Google shows this), transmission, storage in batteries (if you've used rechargeable batteries before you know they heat up), and overall engine/system efficiency. A gasoline car has similar losses in the refinement process, not to mention the transportation losses in trucks/etc. You can't pick and choose which elements of efficiency you look at and ignore the bigger picture.

dime21, with all due respect, you do not understand how thermodynamic efficiency works. Emissions do not waste energy and lower efficiency unless they carry away energy to be lost. In an engine, the overwhelming majority of losses comes as heat. A car has losses overall from both heat and friction. Probably other sources too such as sound and deformation but I doubt these are on the order of friction/heat. Oh, and go grab a tailpipe on a car after it's been running sometime if you don't think heat leaves through it.

Fourthly, power plants, conventional cars, AND solar cars continue to improve in terms of emissions, efficiency, and c02 footprint. Not only due to government restrictions and regulations but the simple fact that you make more money by increasing efficiency (especially in a power plant). A 1% increase in efficiency in a power plant can make you a TON more money with nearly the same emissions and c02 output, barring some change that increases these obviously.

Lastly, regarding pricing, at least in the USA, people only are going to buy electric or hybrid cars if they are affordable. Companies are not going to make them if the only price they can sell them at is far below their cost. This is simply how business works - you cannot sell products for less than you make them at and remain a viable company. Why do you think the government is subsidizing the Volt nearly 20%?

Overall though, the easiest way to be efficient here is to drive your current vehicle into the ground before replacing it. Getting a new car every 3 years - even if it is more efficient than your last one - is not more environment friendly overall.
