With regards to this particular ad, should we presume from your comment that you are not an engineer, a doctor, a business person, a teacher, a student, a parent or a child? All these folks love their iPads.

I guess people without children that do not fall under any of those careers can't like iPads :(

Except that there allready are lots of people that use iPad for drawing like the guy in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufYOWA8HdFM

So? A stylus still beats fingers for drawing, that's why it has been invented. ;)

The only thing that would convince me to upgrade would be a bigger screen. If not then... fuggedit.

I made an observation in a joking manner. But yeah, it probably does sting a little. ;)

It's Saturday night. I'm going out with friends to see some bands and then hopefully get sodomized later.

    What are your plans? ;)

Staying in. It's pouring with 40-50 mph winds. I gots me some sodomy last night though. ;)

    Hope you get some too!

    Well have fun Lee!

Meanwhile here's a clip about the honey badger (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r7wHMg5Yjg).

I love that video. Cracks me up every time I see it.

iPhone 4's are everywhere here in CA. They used to be unique, now the only comment is... "oh you have the one with a bad antenna."

Steve's denial might work for him and his lemmings, but the general public is more aware than any Apple enthusiast would care to admit. Me? I simply reach into my other pocket and show them my new HTC Inspire, those are the popular phones where I live.

Public perception overrides how the phone actually performs every time. It's human nature.

Yes, you'll get a great idea by the votes. :D

haha. Well yeah you will get a highly biased perspective of course. That's a given. But the tendency will be for things that are good for Apple as a company. As long as you understand the bias you can base your own opinions off of the biased opinion. :p

the deadline i think is Nov. 14 when the Zune is coming out. If passes that I would think maybe at MWSF.
The main goal is the holiday season. After middle of November is too late to launch such a product.
So I have my fingers crossed for the last week of October. That's the perfect timing.

Yeah. I love the products but I loathe the man. Then again I'm just a regular user and not one of those scary MacDroids. You know, the ones with the blank stare, the ones that repeat mantras about Windows viruses and the dreaded blue screen of death... some even believe Windows gives you AIDS. They're kind of like scientologists or Jehova's Witnesses. But you gotta keep in mind those were the ones he was addressing, as always. Hence the smugness. The Keynote is his church and he is their god. Notice the constant applause and cheering over stuff like, oh, some new button or menu item. Mac will always be my second platform because these people just scare the poop out of me.

Whatever you are attempting to sell is failing the 'smell' test (if you follow me). You do not know the man I am fairly certain. I am always suspicious about how well screwed on people are, who see others as mindless droids and cannot keep their bowel movements under control.

it's impossible, cause as you eat it, it gets softer...then if you put it back into the freezer, its rock hard!!

    missed that one. fully agree.

why? men and women can't share a basin to wash their hands? many places already have unisex restrooms. As long as it is known, there shouldn't be any problem.
I really don't see any reasons, other than people being stuck in their old conventions. it would surely simplify my life when I am around town with my kids.Would sexual harassment claims rise if we had unisex bathrooms.

...I'd like The Steve to walk on stage and announce that they absolutely will not release certain products,

That is a really good idea.

He would have to come up with language that does not confirm or deny, but still states "not this quarter".

I believe it would increase sales on the margin for peple waiting for the next great thing to come out ala Merom MBP, despite the fact that the only benefit to Merom over Yonah is 64 bit.

He should UPOD and SAY this was the greatest processor improvement in a decade and additional improvements will be incremental for a couple years.

Even if we later learn those increments are doublings of processor counts. Besides that ONLY benefits threaded applications, not "traditional applications" which have seen a plateau for the forseeable future.

At some point the consumer experience is not appreciably improved by processor improvements. Except for media processing intensive applicatons, we are there.

That alone ia an amazing statement for the Apple platform.

Can any other platform say that or even promise that any time within 2 years?

    Rocketman

Wow, I just watched the keynote and my god this guy is hard to stand. I've watched previous keynotes and he never seemed this bad. The charisma he's displayed in the past has been replaced with smugness. He acted like the iPhone was the second coming of christ and we were so lucky that he existed to bring it upon us.

When really, this is probably the single worst keynote for Mac users that he has ever given. No hardware updates. No 10.5 preview. Not even iLife and iWork '07! Plus, very people I know are going to be interested in spending $600 + $60 a month or more to use this phone while plenty of us would love to spend $300 or $400 or even more on a full-screen video iPod. God, I wish this keynote was all some nightmare and in the real one Apple actually gave us something we wanted.
This may have already been said, I haven't read this thread because this topic has been done to death IMO, but I sense more arrogance in your single post than in all of Steve's keynotes combined.

Perhaps this explains why the Mac Pro was designed with two optical drives? ;)

Now your Mac Pro will cost $3500-$4000 instead of $2500-$3000.

My sources.. well, my main sources is the Apple documentation (all of it), then theres books and all the same stuff than most developers learn from. And.. no I haven't read all of the books, nor watch every video but I will.

Again with the lack of specificity.

Being specific is a huge part of learning how to program, because computers only do what you tell them to do. (As you should have learned just by living through this thread).

It's not essential to read every page of every book, but certain books are good at explaining particular concepts. Others, less so.

Telling us specifically which resources got you in this mess, can help us point you at the relevant portions of the resources you already have at your disposal. It also can help us the next newbie who doesn't know a method from an object instance, by pointing them to different resources to avoid your mistakes.

For example, if we know you have access to Kochan's book we could be more specific and say: "Go back and re-read Chapter 3 on "Classes, Objects and Methods"" instead of a more generic "step back and learn the fundamentals".

No, self refers to the instance of the object that is executing the currently running code.

Which Nekbeth might actually know if they took the time to learn something about objects, for example from said Chapter 3 in Kochan. For me, it remains the best description of objects I have read.

would anyone care to explain why the uk price for a 30" cinema display is 1549 whereas in the US it is $1999 (around 1054.71) even with VAT included this still only comes to 1,239.28 - so why the huge margin...I guess it's not called rip-off Britain for nothing eh...

Just finished watch the keynote. It did seem shorter than (about) 2 hours. I read about the products and everything at apple.com before, but wow, watching the keynote makes a big difference. You get to really see everything in action, and you'll learn more than you will on apple's site.
