    It wasn't long before this happen...why wouldn't they bring it to the PS3 to make more money if the game is good.

    I'll get it for the PS3 if it has more content or online multiplayer.

    Bless

    The question here is:

    How many websites can a Mac Mini Server Serve before you start to run into issues?

    A little bit more info:

    I woud be running a MySql database with a Wordpress Multisite install to host 50 to 100 Blogs Max. I doubt that all of the blogs combined would get more than 15 - 20k hits per day serving up just wordpress sites, no audio/video.

    To go with a Standard solution I would be looking at a Xeon W3530 (like a i7 930) with Cpanel and 6GB of Ram. That setup would run around $2000.

    My thought was to get one Mac Mini Server for $999 and then I could always add a second if traffic picks up..

    Input?

    and why have you ompared a machine with significantly better processor and memory to a Mac Mini ?

    if you were running _any_ linux distro on equivelent hardware to the mac mini, you would get performance no worse than the mac mini, at probably 1/2 the price.

    the big saving with going with commodity hardware will come the first time a hard drive fails in the mac mini...

    This avatar is slightly animated but it's a bit hard to notice since the animation only happens every 5 seconds. I love my avatar I have now, but I still love to make more. :D I used Macromedia Flash MX and Adobe ImageReady to make this animated gif. Hope you guys like this one too, it's more simple. My next one will be on the "1,000,000" topic, so keep you eye out for it. ;)

    Enjoy!

    (BTW, The animation is Mac blinking, it's hard to see but it looks more realistic when it goes fast....right? hehe Also if you view this thread please comment on it, I like to hear feedback!) :)

    I'm trying to implement an in-app purchase that unlocks a non-consumable file by setting a setting-variable to "yes".

    I've set up a test user, and tried purchasing, and it seems to work.

    - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath
    {
    if (![[[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] stringForKey:@"settings_FULL_VERSION"] isEqualToString:@"yes"])
    {

    Did I post this in the right forum?

    There doesn't appear to be an animation forum, so this might be the closest option. The lack of response seems to indicate either general disinterest, or that nobody has a good answer.

    Speaking for myself, I've had some issues with Poser Pro in terms of speed and responsiveness. Since my needs are mainly for creating stills for illustration purposes, and not animation, I tend to prefer Poser 7 because it's quicker for me. I can't really say anything about character development (not my specialty). I do know that lots of people use Poser professionally (though it's hardly ever the total solution), so it's not a bad application.

    You might try exploring sites like ConceptArt.org, where quite a few professionals hang out, or perhaps Renderosity.com.

    That's about all I can offer. Good luck.

    Hi guys,

    Been a regular reader of the site for ages, just never actually registered! Anyway...

    I took delivery of my Dual 867 G4 last week, with 768 RAM, and the ATI Radeon 9000 to order.

    Everything flies - games etc. in OS 9 (Quake/Unreal Tournament) are stunning - speed in 9 is blistering, and overall speed in 10 is excellent, which means I now use 10 as my primary OS.

    But there's one seemingly glaring problem - when I do anything in the finder (I'm using the word "finder" as in the OS-9 understanding of it - sorry!), even when I first start up, with no progs running, and I drag a window around or something, the window movement is "jagged" - it kind of glitches approx. every second. This happens with window drags, dock scrolling with magnification on, doing the selection box around files on the desktop, dragging HD icons around on the desktop - almost everything, including sometimes minimizing using the genie effect. Dragging web-browser windows, itunes, and every other app's windows also does the same. Also (not really important) - when the apps I'm loading bounce in the dock as they're opening, sometimes the bouncing animation glitches too. But strangely, scrolls in programs such as Photoshop and other graphically-intensive apps are as smooth as anything. As are screensavers (and games) that are accessing the card using OpenGL etc. It only seems to be standard finder/desktop stuff. Video/DVD playback is also fine.

    The most annoying thing is, I was installing 10.2 on a new 700mhz iMac we got in at my work today - and, even though it only had 256 in it, and the 32mb Geforce4 instead of the 64mb 9000 I have, the window drags and EVERYTHING I've mentioned, were as smooth as anything - albeit my machine is faster and more continuous, with less "submarining" as the windows drag etc - more instantaneous - but, the iMac (and 2 other dual 867s with the Geforce4 in them and less RAM I've tested) was smooth - resulting in a system that felt more responsive - even though speed was probably faster on mine, but doesn't feel it because of the glitching.

    Has anyone any ideas to help me with this please? Is it maybe a driver compatibility problem of some sort, and I should just wait for an update to 10.2 and/or the ATI radeon 9000 drivers?

    Please help!

    Thanks in anticipation,
    Mark

    Here is a fool proof way to decide "wait or buy now"...

    If the computer you have is not doing what you need then buy a new computer.

    If your current computer is serving your needs then don't buy a new computer.

    Don't worry about what might be released later if the new computer fixes some problem, then fix the problem now. There are two issues here (1) buying something for nor reason is a waste of money (2) waiting can go on "forever" so don't fall into that trap. Buy what you need when you need it.

    Thanks for the reply, it helped a lot!!

    If everyone who started folding showed your level of dedication, the MR team would be #1 in a short time...that is, of course, if we all had access to that many computers...:)

    Parallels and Virtualbox can both also do this, but VMWare has better documentation.

    For your text ( #membershipcontent ), remove the "position: relative" and/or "left: 285px"

    Think of relative positioning as a "nudge" -- the browser does most of the rendering and then moves any elements relatively positioned by the number of pixels you tell it. In your case, 285px on the left which bumps it to the right.
