I have a Camo patterned lenscoat on my 300/2.8. I bought the Camo for two reasons; (1) to blend in with the natural surroundings around me, when shooting wildlife, and (2) because it doesn't absorb heat, like black does. What is the point of putting a black coat on a white lens??? Canon makes most of their zooms & tele's white, to help minimize heat issues. Another benefit of having a lenscoat, is that is does provide some protection to the body of the lens, but also prevents paint wear, which in turn helps minimize depreciation values, if one were to sell their lens.

I would suggest asking this question on the FM General Discussion board. You will get many more specific answers to your questions, as there is a lot more traffic there, and there are numerous members who own & use lenscoat products. In response to the statement about fitting, the coat on my 300, fits perfectly. There is some slight movement here & there, but for the most part all the different pieces stay in their respective places. Also, I would strongly advise against putting any type of tape on your lenses, except for Gaffer's tape. I utilize Gaffer's tape in a few strategic areas, but I have never wrapped any of my lenses or hoods in any type of tape.

The name is pretty lame and the "logo" is worse - most reasonable people will just think you misspelled published. Keep trying unless you don't care about brand. And as for Umlauts... don't use them unless you have a purpose other than hiding a bad mark.

I'm pretty sure that the people who are commenting that they like the name or the logo have little professional experience to back up their claim. Just because someone says something is good doesn't mean that it is.

Would like to join you guys.

However, I have a meeting this evening and probably won't be able to make it down there in time.

One favor, can you check out the supply of iPod Touches -- specifically if they have the 16GB model in stock. TIA.

If I'm remembering correctly, there was a CD installer for Tiger. If you could find that, you'd be good.

I'd suggest getting at least an external DVD drive, though... always good to be able to burn a DVD, even if purely for backup purposes.

reebzor: Given that I can't have wiring running around to the speakers (that need to be on opposite ends of the room), unfortunately this won't work.

waw74: It sounds like airplay speakers would be the best bet for ease of setup (in theory). The ihome option looks really nice - what a bummer they aren't available yet. Looks like the only AirPlay speaker available now is the Zeppelin Air ($600 apiece, so $1200 for a pair...wow). I'm a bit confused why it has a dock though, since it seems the reason for buying one would be to use airplay, but maybe I am missing the point.

Sounds like Airport Express would be the least expensive option. I didn't know I can make an Express a "base" without having internet access. So to make sure i understand ... I would buy 2 Airport Expresses. I would connect my MBP to one AirPort Express (no internet connection needed), and then have the AirPort Express create a wireless network, which I could then connect the second AirPort Express to using my MBP. The just plug speakers in the Expresses on opposite sides of the room, and I'll be good to go, correct?

    Thanks-

Periods shouldn`t be inside of paranthese (unless it`s a compete sentence), so you might not want to do that...

If you are asking if its apple's style, i would have to say no man. I would change the backgound color to white and find a place to add highlights of silver. Just some suggestions.

Cisco have owned this trademark for years. Apple were in negotiations to buy it, but for whatever reason they couldn't close the deal in time. Apple should therefore have not announced that the product was going to be called iPhone at the keynote.

Doing so before the deal was done was a big mistake. Cisco can now triple the price for the name and Apple either have to pay or look humiliated.

Apple can throw as many lawyers as they like at it now, but that name is still Cisco's property. Last time I looked, Cisco could afford a big legal team of their own. They can't be bullied here.

EDIT : Although whether the situation worldwide is quite so clear cut is debatable. Article from The Register. (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/01/12/cisco_apple_iphone_trademark_spat/)

If you need something to be safe around or in water, you cant go wrong with the GoPro. It impresses me more every time I use it. It isn't the most user friendly, but "bang for your buck" is, IMO, off the chart.
Ive been playing with one for a little over a month and it does some awesome stuff. Since I've had it I have seen them on TV several times, from Mythbusters to racing shows, to bizarre foods, to a new one about the bike couriers in NYC.

Ugh, I just bought CleanMyMac. Could you elaborate more why these products are bad to use? Thanks

AppZapper, AppCleaner, CleanApp, TrashMe, and similar apps do not do a thorough job of removing all files/folders related to deleted apps. I tested several of these, using Skype as the app to be removed. Of 17 items to be removed:
    AppZapper missed 13 items
    AppCleaner missed 11 items
    AppDelete missed 8 items
    Hazel missed 9 items
I also tested AppTrap, CleanMyMac and a few others, but don't recall how many items they missed. All left files/folders behind. In most cases, they remove .plist files and a few others, but leave behind much larger files and folders. (you will find a discussion of these tests in the thread linked below)

One app that I would not recommend, based on the number of complaints that have been posted in this forum and elsewhere, is CleanMyMac. As an example: CleanMyMac cleaned too much (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=709930)

Thanks for all the answers and discussion. I'm a bit disappointed about losing the unlock upon a reboot. On another note, will OS 4.3.2 be un-lockable using the Gevey?

OK, I can power an FW400 drive from FW800. I think it was my FW400 repeater hub that couldn't be powered.

I imagine an FW800 drive can be powered from FW400, too.
