Ras, looking at the photo at the rally, I think you got the point. Not much attended and I don't see any other nationals there.
Not everyone could attend the rally! I for one, was not there for my own reasons. IV is for everyone; all nationalities. We should all be contributing in our own way. Mine was making sure congressmen, senators and Americans are aware that immigration isn't just about illegals. I've been calling, writing and maintaining contact with them for 5 years. Senator Lugars office "know me" now. Governor Daniels is one of the 12 that signed the last letter headed by the "terminator" Arnie!!! So, I may not have contributed by attending a rally or monetary donation, but our state leaders here in Indiana, are now more aware of the plight of EB immigrants; maybe, just maybe, with a little help from me...
If IV majority is made up of folks from certain countries, then does that not prove those are the countries with the majority of EB immigrants to the USA? I don't care where you come from, who you are; we are all here for the same exact reason. We are sick of being held to ransom by a broken immigration system. We are sick of whenever you say "immigration" the first thought that pops into peoples minds, US born that is, is illegals. I am sick of it and take the time to try and explain it.

We are in process of preparing plan for 2008 that will include several items like Job fairs, Immigration lawyers conferences, Seminars by community leaders (from corporate and entrepreneurs ) , lawmakers meeting etc. These are some loft goals and the Tri State Leads in few days will be sending more details on it. You all will have roles to play in that.

If you have maintained status all along, you have nothing to fear.Since you have an approved H1, you are free to stop taking classes now. However, when you go for visa stamping be prepared with all the documents to show that you have maintained status. You will surely have a few tough questions to answer so be prepared to convince the visa officer of your continued legal status.Also, avoid going to a consulate in a third country like Mexico or Canada. In my opinion, for non-standard cases like yours its safer to get it done in your home country.
My H1 is approved on Oct 23, 2006. I was on F1. Before my OPT grace period expired on July 20, 2006, I enrolled in a school with new I-20 on July 5th, 2006. Same here.
Mine & my wife's 485s were wrongfully denied last year.
We gave USCIS a chance to fix their mistake on the file. They fixed it.
If they shouldn't have fixed it , I would be a mini millionaire by now :)
But, my online status still shows as denied. Last month we got our
EADs and APs renewed without any issues. So, I don't care about the
online status.

My wife is planning to convert from H4 to H1 for dentist.
1) Does she need a dental license to apply for H1 ?
She 'qualifies' for a dental license (ie meets all requirements), but almost all states require a SSN to issue a dental license. Since she is on H4, she doesnt have a SSN. Problem: Dental License needs SSN - SSN needs H1 - H1 needs license - basically a "Catch 22" position here
2) I did some googling and found that UCSIS issues H1 for 1 year for nurses who do not have license(because of no SSN). Would this apply to dentists as well ?? link (http://www.murthy.com/nurse_faq.html#2)

short visits in this case should not reset his 365 day clock. days of this short visit will just not get counted towards the 365 days.
If I was in your position, I would try getting him here immediately and then try applying for 485 ASAP so he can get his EAD. When you are so close, he doesn't need a new H1.
I would also bring him up here earlier since medical exam and all that takes some time. You may not be able to do this if you have a really short timeframe.

My brother-in-law and sister are both Indian Doctors, having a private practice in INDIA. They would like to apply for visitor's visa.

Anyone willing to join the lawsuit should be willing to join by giving full information about themselves and about their application. Yesterday core members asked this question on a thread and only one person out of thousands of people who visited the site said they are interested. Let us see who all are truely willing to join this lawsuit? It is very easy to annonymously post such messages, but when people cannot even give their corect email id , name and phone number in their profile I highly doubt a lawsuit will be possible.

Hello everyone,
Today 17th August, 2007 my I-485 packet was about to reach at Texas Service Center and unfortunately when I track my packet it shows �Notice Left� on USPS site, they mention they will try to deliver on Next business day. When I called at USPS , one lady picked up phone and she told it was PO Box no so we cant deliver. It is available to them to pick up but the man from USCIS might pick it up on early monday morning. Now I am worried does that mean my mailing date is Aug 17th or Aug 20th.
SO now USCIS will accept my application or not ?? Please advise ? Any body has same situation ?

We just applied for a student loan and got approved. Here are a few things we found out during the course of applying for the loan.
The only difference between you applying while on H1 vs. as PR/Citizen are the interest rates. Also if you are a PR/Citizen you qualify for a federal Stafford loan, which has the least interest rate and the best terms.
If you are on H1 and you can get a PR/Citizen as a co-signer you can qualify for other private loans with lower interests than without a co-signer. The only issue with having a co-signer is that it their credit report is going to reflect the loan and could impact their credit worthiness.
You [& co-signer] will have to send documents proving you are legal in this country. You need to fax - first page of passport, H1 approval, PR card [if you claim you are a PR]

This happened with my wife case too. Company applied on June 1 , no update till dec ending , changed to premium processing as we have to go out of country got the approval in two days and copy in 7 days. I think its deliberate. But we are happy that we have it in hand. You cant do anything with this but rather give them extra 1000$ they want.
You happened to be lucky since you had the option of Premium Processing. But now, even if we wanted to, we cannot opt for it. I am sure, almost 90% of the members who have been waiting for months together would opt for PP (for I-140) if it is available now. I wonder why USCIS has not reinstated PP for I-140 now that they are done with the major workload(receipting,AP,EAD) due to the VB fiasco.
