I have been in this too long and want to decide if it makes any sense fighting anymore and anticipating the cards. Any advice is greatly appreciated
I contacted the Senators office and the rep there made a query to USICS> this is the response she got.
�This case is currently in an extended security review area."
She then tried to contact this area and the Officer advised that it cannot be released at this time. The Service is aware that there is a visa available, however, since it is still being reviewed for security issues it cannot be released at this time
Any Advise?

EAD allows un-restricted employment so nothing to worry. Also take all the supporting documents then you should be fine. In your future employment letter, plz make sure that you have full time (in-definte) job offer. Do not talk about ur salary as per hr basis.

Folks,
I am in a dire situation. I received on Sep 15th 2008 the dreaded email "request for initial evidence sent case placed on hold". Neither my lawyers nor the employer has received that letter and now its being 45 days and now nothing yet in spite of repeated requests from lawyers and employer to the USCIS.
What are my option here?

You apply for H1 transfer before you join new company. Once u get the H1 receipt (2 weeks) then u can be in their payroll. Then file for AC21. If all goes well this is my plan in June 08.
My question is my wife has her EAD expiring 10/10/2008, AP on 11/19/08. She wants to travel to india in May and return in november. is it ok if I change employer while she is in india, my concern is when she comes back in november her EAD is expired, will it affect our 485 status?

my lawyer mentioned that I-140 PPS will come back after Texas and Nebraska have finish receipting the flood of I485 applications.
In a AILA meeting USCIS raised concerns about their ability to process the cases in 15 days and their concern is that they don't know how many applications they'll receive for I-140 PPS.
my lawyer mentioned its free money for these guys and they will bring it back. USICS still hasn't withdrawn PPS for I-129 or I-539 applications. They use the same freaking resources except now that they are using those resources to receipt for the new I-485 applications.

Last week, I submitted my documents to my lawyer but until now I haven't received any confirmation from my employer yet if my application has been filed already. We are not allowed to contact our lawyer directly so I'm just relying on my employer about this. I'm quite concerned coz there's no way for me to find out if they have filed it or not.

USCIS has updated the processing dates pages of all the four service centers on September 28. Now the pages say that these dates are valid as of July 31, 2008 only.
If I remember well the processing dates information was more up-to-date earlier.
So looks like CIS has backtracked from their earlier published dates. They are telling us that they simply cannot tell what the current processing dates are. All they can tell us is that what applications they were processing on July 31.
What can we deduce from this? Is it good? Is it bad? Or no relevance?
It could be good as CIS might be processing July 2007 485 applications as of today? Or may be not.
Simply more confusion, as if as it is we were not confused enough.
If I remember well the processing dates information was more up-to-date earlier.
