Thank you, indyanguy, morchu and Mr. Reddy for your insights. Since, I am working with the same employer, I think they will not revoke the old I-140. I am not sure if I have to do medical examination again if I decide to send a new I-485?. Can I ask the doctor to re-send the I-693 form?

does anyone know when CIR will be discussed in the house and in the Senate?
Senate taking it up in the last 2 weeks of May. House has not scheduled debate on CIR yet, I believe. Supposedly this is the quiet before the storm. I believe a lot of backstage deal-making and negotiating is going on to get bipartisan support for CIR.

URGENT -
I already have approved I-140 in eb3/Sept 2002. I am substituting a labor (EB2) - if approved I would be able to apply for I-485 right away.
My Lawyer has advised to apply I-140 as it is for EB2. (which means no reference to earlier eb3 PD ) And upon its approval during I-485 application, request for earlier PD. In fact, as per him - only reference I need is to seek eligibility for I-485 application. Which is true but shouldn�t I-140 which is basis of I-485 application should show eligible PD.
Please let me know yr opinion.

Found that someone with Aug 2002 PD got approved on June 1 whose I485 Receipt date was May 2003.
I guess USCIS does not go by PD to select who should be adjucated first but by what date the I485 was received. They are really ingenious and creative in finding ways to be inefficient and unjust.
Oh well....
IV is the only place that is doing a lot to change.

I had called up Senator John Coryn's office. They told me that currently immigration bills are going nowhere. The Senator still has plans to introduce SKILL bill, but exactly when that will happen is not certain.

The tool you are looking for is Google. Just search for your local Senator and give him a call, they will tell you what they need. As you said, Senator is very effective if your date is current.

Immigration Voice would like to request members of its community stuck in the green card process that are scientists, researchers, professors and working in the area of national importance. Basically anything that will benefit this country in any way (economically, health related, sciences etc)
We would like make a strong case via media through such interviews and if we are successful in getting such interviews published, these media interviews would be used when presentations are made to lawmakers.

The Program Assessment Rating Tool (PART) was developed to assess and improve program performance so that the Federal government can achieve better results. A PART review helps identify a program’s strengths and weaknesses to inform funding and management decisions aimed at making the program more effective. I am not sure about e-filing. Personally, I think efiling is a hassle as you have to go for a biometric appointment while paper filing or efiling does not make a difference in terms of work/result/timeline. I would recommend paperfiling. No matter how modern the front end is, the back end is all paper based and you will leave the people working on your case with a comfortable medium that they are familiar with if you paperfile. :D

I complete 6 yrs on H1-B in August, 2007
Have PERM/I-140 approved with 3 yr H1B extension from August 2007 to Feb 2010.
Have a good job offer from company B, but seek your clarifications before I move further.
a. If I move now, can I take my 3 yr extension filed by company A with me or
b. should I join company B in September 2007( when I complete 6 yrs) during the 3 yr H1B extension period ?
Kindly help me out.
I am not worried abt porting the PD as I don't mind waiting on H1 forever as the wait for GC
is making my life miserable.

it would be difficult to show how a french degree is useful in your current job. Many companies get h1-b approved by showing a "business necessity"..ie, they need travel agents who speak a certain Indian language etc. Doing an MBA definitely will help, but not with the current job description. They are going to ask why the job requires an MBA?Ofcourse if you got a job teaching French, h1-b visa will be granted.

I think it might be CT issue. There is an ongoing immigration fraud investigation against state employees so now they are over doing enforcement.
I had problem when I wanted to register my Car in New Jersey. I had moved to New Jersey from MA, so I had MA license at that time and was staying temorarily at my cousin's place. When I went to one DMV they told me that you need to have NJ driver's license to register my car. I told them the situation and that I was going to get NJ license once I get my place, but they just didn't register my car. I went twice at that place and got same answer.
Then I went to different DMV and the guy understood my situation and gave me a temporary NJ driver license number (NOT driver license) and registered my car. TOld me to give this number when I come to get NJ license and everything worked fine.
Its just some poeple don't want to know about some this or just want to create problems.
