You mean the wishes that, uhm, are to fulfill? If so, then I'd love to get some money, which I suppose I won't get more than my monthly sum of pocket money. No macs this year, damn.

I'm curious. Are they really allowed to do this kind of stuff under their Monopoly status? I would think that, "Breaking into a market and losing Billions of dollars to crush your competition and former 'partners' while sustaining your product on your Monopoly money". Might be against some restriction they have. Am I just nuts or is someone asleep at the wheel.

As for their partners I think I'll be lining up for my lawsuit about now. Especially since I'm sure they have to pay to be "PlaysForSure" compliant, and may have shown MS their Software, Hardware and Music Stores in intimate detail to get that compliancy. In one way or another their money and knowledge in part will fund the very thing that MS will try to crush them with.

Does anyone have an idea of what (if anything) this does that Parallels doesn't? Parallels has done a great job and is really great except for the video acceleration. If someone could figure that out and let us play XP games in OS X I would be one happy guy.
I anticipate Fusion to be better than Parallels in the following area,
Virtualization of more than one CPU
Support for more than one network card
    Better USB 1.1 implementation
    USB 2.0
    ACPI
    More robust with multiple VMs
    Far better customer support.

This is one of those threads that enforces the Apple fanboi stereotype. It's 1mm. That's it. Steve Jobs is not out to kill your children anymore than he is to fleece you on your white iPhone purchase, and the typical person won't even notice anyway. Can we all move along now?

I hope this OS is to be bought & downloaded through the App Store and updates come through the generic "software update".

I think it will be on the App Store.. and via a physical disk. I have friends who don't have fast enough internet to even play xboxlive.. and have a high-speed limit of like 500MBs a day. So yeah.

It does vary quite a lot by where you live. Living in Sweden (and coming from the UK) just about everyone I know uses MSN.

Same here, it seems that AIM is only popular within the US. Elsewhere Messenger totally dominates.

I don't know a single person who uses AIM. Not one.

    Hi, you all!

This iAdware thing is old news and has been already fixed in latest security update by Apple.

    Greetings from Finland,
    Toni

    Installer

    CVE-ID: CVE-2006-4404

Available for: Mac OS X v10.3.9, Mac OS X Server v10.3.9, Mac OS X v10.4.8, Mac OS X Server v10.4.8

Impact: When installing software as an Admin user, system privileges may be used without explicit authorization

Description: Admin users are normally required to authenticate before executing commands with system privileges. However, the Installer allows system privileges to be used by Admin users when installing certain packages without requiring authentication. This update addresses the issue by requiring authentication before installing software with system privileges.

I hope the mission was to capture Bin Laden, not kill him. If he had to be shot because he was fighting back or something then fair enough, but I hope the plan was to capture if possible.

Ideally, I would have liked to have seen him in front of the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity. That would have been a victory to be proud of.

Until this speculation is confirmed and Apple reveal what their plans really are, I'll reserve judgement on whether this is value for money or not. But it wouldn't surprise me if they do charge something. To not charge would mean adverts, I'd rather pay a small premium, much like a do with Mobile Me than have adverts. Each to their own though.

Why, my friend, by "the iPod is Apple's cash cow", you imply that there is only one cash cow. But if you want to use the traditional definition (http://www.dict.org/bin/Dict?Form=Dict2&Database=*&Query=cash+cow) of "cash cow", "a project that generates a continuous flow of money," then the Mac would be more of a cash cow than the iPod, because it has always represented a larger proportion of Apple's profits and revenues. Not once has the iPod represented more of Apple's revenues. So the Mac generates a larger continuous flow of money.

Not sure what set of rules of logic you are using, but either way you are wrong. The Mac is still more important to Apple's bottom line than the iPod. Apple is also innovating more on the Mac than with the iPod.

By the way, you might want to look up the definition of the word "emotional" as well. I'm using facts, you're making things up.

Listen, it's quite simple: For over 25 years Apple was a maker of almost exclusively personal computers and software. Five years ago, they introduced the iPod, followed by the music store (and now video, etc.). All of a sudden - within a period of only five years - iPod and music/video related sales account for almost half of their profit, and soon - by many estimates - will account for at least a full half (and possibly more).

Now, do you think that Apple considers the iPod and the iTunes Music Store a cash cow? Hmmm...

You aren't the only person Apple sells computers to either. To a lot of people being able to at least play some games on the go is a selling point that must be met for a travel device.]

I am exactly one of those people. I wanted a light laptop that I could game on occasionally while on travel. There is ZERO chance I would have bought an apple if it wasn't for the Air's portability and gaming potential. Hopefully I'll get many years use out of my 13" Ultimate.. but if Apple cripples the Air from a GPU perspective, I'll go back to Windows in a heartbeat on my next laptop purchase.

Don't get me wrong, I love my air and am enjoying OSX.. but not enough to sacrifice my ability to game on it.

This is a great thing. Now I wonder if this will support tmobile calls over wifi.

And I hope they sell the phone for higher fee upfront, and lower monthly fees.

    That would rock

At Cerritos right now. Got here at 9am. About 30th in line. Still have no idea if they even have any.

Went to fashion island last night at about 5:15. Was about 20th from the Ed. Didn't get one.

My favorite iPhone design was the first one. Bring back the aluminum and rounded sides. It's not comfortable to hold this iPhone 4 brick!

Currently using the original iPhone (don't ask...I lost an iPhone 4, and a 3GS, and thought it better to wait till iPhone 5 before springing a decent sum of money for a new one), the aluminum looks seriously dated.

Although, maybe it will look a lot sweeter if they made it iPod Touch thin...

Getting a DNA finger print is pretty quick these days - I presume they did that.

Did they try and capture him - I doubt it - a living Osama is worth two dead ones.

Unless they can figure something out where that doesn't happen, I'm not impressed.

I just updated mine and there is a noticeable difference in speed with this update. It is much faster in opening applications and text messages.

Lies, someone always says this with every update. The animations are still often laggy.

You poor boy. Will this leave a lasting scar? It wasn't 100 pages for me anyway as I view more threads per page. So there. :p

Um, are you not the same person who applauded the Columbine shootings and wished you had the balls to do something similar back in the day?
I sure am. But I would never have shot people who had never harmed me in the first place, and I suppose the same applies to Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold.

Oh, and even though nothing constructive comes out of the partying, it can be fun anyway. I'm not telling anyone to stop - on the contrary, I would probably join the celebrations if I had been there now.
