    Just like communism

i love it when people say stuff, i mean type stuff, without thinking.

android being free and open is more comparable to a capitalist system which ironically also doesn't work out too well in real life.

And people kept telling me that OSX and iOS weren't going to merge in any meaningful manner for years ahead, if ever. Yeah right. I'd bet the one after this has them nearly fully merged and I mean towards iOS for the most part. OSX will be dumbed down to the lowest common brain cell and you won't be able to get free/open software anymore. It'll have to come through the App Store or not at all. Wait and see. That is the point I'll be moving on.

    Come on, really?

makes no difference if it's an Mac Appstore design award or just Apple design award, they'll just choose the winner from the Appstore.

so it's kind of a mixture here.
    1. more capacity -> blu-ray
    2. lower price -> hd-dvd
    3. porn industry choses the cheapest format -> hd-dvd

Actually, the porn industry has gone with Blu-Ray.

Most Americans do not have what you do. And to the person who said I've never experienced "4 screaming kids," I have.

I think you both are just use to having more, and space, and more space. My grandmother raised her six children in a three bedroom, one bath home that she shared with my grandfather and never had any issues. My grandparents, mother or my aunts never complained, and looking back, I think the experience enriched them tenfold. My grandparents were successful and could have afforded a home with "enough space" (by your standards) for all their kids, but they made out just fine in the first floor of an apartment building with "just" 2,200sq. feet.

Used to having more? No. I am one of eight kids and my wife is one of ten. We both grew up in modest houses. Mine was 4 bedrooms 2 baths, same as hers. It did not enrich my life. My sister and I never got along because of tight quarters, and after we moved out our relationship remained tense. We finally started getting along just before she died. My house now is 4 bedrooms 2 baths, one of which is converted to an office. My sons and daughters share their rooms. But, given another chance (we bought the house before our first, who would have thought there'd be 3 more) we would have made a home elsewhere. Now that this is home, it's hard to leave.

Don't presume to know my "standards". We have enough space, but doing it all over I'd choose more. I work hard. I make money accordingly. What's money for if not improving the lives of my family? I don't want a big house for no purpose, I'd just like enough to give my children some personal space so they don't have to collide every day.

As I said above, they will probably use it to sell something they can't move. My guess, "Purchase a Windows 7 phone, we will let you buy an iPad 2."

    "Purchase an xServe..." oh wait...

And yeah Google does record but they at least give you the option to turn it off

This is the point. It doesn't matter which side of the coin you're on regarding privacy. Off means off. On means on.

And if this were RIM, MS, Google or anyone else that had an important feature crippled due to QA, no doubt the ones claiming Apple's innocence here (and decrying everyone else has conspiracy theories) would be the ones laughing at, making theories, getting outraged, etc.

It's not a question of giving Apple a free pass. EVERY company should be liable. And consumers have every right to raise questions.

My goodness - there are threads on this board from people who cry about a one pixel shift in a graphic. Or that their app icon is blurry.

Here's a real issue. An important issue. And some people want to just wipe it under the carpet as a "non issue"

Agreed. I feel like Wordpad, with the ability to open .doc and .docx files, would suffice.

And have Graphpad, a basic spreadsheet app, with the ability to open .xls and .xlsx for excel. :)

In the architectural drawing, above the kitchen and below the bedrooms (using the top of the image as up and the bottom of the image as down) there is a rectangular room with an arch inside it. It's not labeled like the rest is. Any ideas what that is?

Initially I thought large pantry due to its location from the kitchen, but the pantry is labeled to the right of that area.

Perhaps a library with round desk / seating? Sitting room with a circular hearth in the middle? Breakfast nook?

The great thing about an open kitchen is the cook/s of the family isn't out of the life of the family, the bad thing is all your cooking mess is out there with you. So Best guess it's a "Butler's Pantry" or a service kitchen.
Always the first luxury to be included in houses where space allows in even.
Plus it's in the service core of the house so that would fit.

Gives you some where to dump the dirty dishes if you don't want to deal with them till after guests leave or the next morning. To get round this you have two kitchens one in the main space for main meals another tucked away for prep and clean, plus the microwave or machines that make noise and go ping when you make popcorn to eat while watching the drop down home cinema screen as shown on one plan. Also if you have catering coming in for a formal diner it gives them some where out of the way to do their work.

As for the round thing which is the only round element in the house.
Well if it was my house that would be a wood fired dome oven or pizza oven.
Great for roasting veges (and meat but doubt there will be any of that) and your own bread.

In the last 4 pages of this forum topic, I think I remember something about you saying you were able to see that persons IP address while they were logging on to xbox live through some program.

well, i don't own an xbox 360 or any console at that.. the last console I've owned is the Nintendo NES  .. I don't know exactly how that program works, but if your able to get an IP address, you can go to http://www.urgentclick.com/address_trace.php

and find out what type of internet they are connecting through, and what company is providing them with internet service. ie: dsl, cable, satellite.

    for example.
    68.190.xxx.xxx traced to: 68-190-xxx-xxx.dhcp.gldl.ca.charter.com

thats my IP address, it's dhcp (Cable) in glendale, CA. @ Charter communications

at the time the xbox were to connect to XBox Live.. if you get the IP address and run this search, the police would be able to call the internet provider, provide them with the IP in question and a warrant (or whatever is needed), they would be able to give you the perpetrators address.

then just bust down that guys door and the xbox is yours again.

I used to work for comcast communications as a customer service rep, and whenever the police would call in with something regarding theft or IP trace, etc., the process was simple. Literally plug in the IP address into the database and after a simple search, the customers profile would pop up.

if this is done fast enough, you can most likely catch them in the act..
dont know if this has helped or not, or you've probably already tried this, but just thought i'd share my 2cents.

Sorry, but that's the same at laughing at the people, ie, a form of being "Holier than thou." After all, what did your post add to this discussion except to say that you think you're above the comments being posted.

Nice try at excusing yourself though, "buddy".

If that makes you feel better I'm fine with you calling me holier than thou :D. Feel free to continue bashing the OP. I get a good laugh.

Why are you using fear as part of your argument? I shouldn't have to have a gun on me to feel safe in my community. It's not saying I feel immune to crime, but fear of crime shouldn't drive a person.
Not fear of crime, but rather, the desire for self-preservation. Is someone else providing that safety for you? Or are you providing it for yourself? It sounds like you're taking option 3, and not providing it at all. FYI- the supreme court ruled that the police have no legal obligation to provide for your safety. Their job is only to catch the criminals during/after a crime - not to prevent it, and not to "keep you safe". Do you also choose not to wear your seat belt in your car, because that's for people who always fear collisions, and fear of an automotive collision shouldn't drive a person?

Yes, I own a few guns and I carry a hand gun on my person anytime I leave the house. To run errands, to pick the kids up from school, you name it, I'm carrying. I look it at the same way as the fire extinguisher I have sitting in the corner of my kitchen. I really really don't want an occasion to use it. Ever. But should that occasion arise, I absolutely want to have immediate access to it. Without that fire extinguisher, all I could do is stand in the front yard and watch my home burn to the ground waiting for the fire department to arrive. Carrying a hand gun is no different that that fire extinguisher in my kitchen or the airbags in my car. I don't ever want to use them, but having them can mean the difference between life and death. It doesn't mean I'm being driven by fear of kitchen fires or vehicle collisions.

Violent criminals frequently use guns to kill people. That is a fact, and there is absolutely nothing you can do to change that. Nothing. All you can do is arm yourself to level the playing field.

Given the choice, I'd much rather have the robber hold me up with a knife, than a gun.
Yes, because violent criminals give you a choice. lol. Next time you're in that situation, be sure to voice your opinion to your assailant. Please sir, if you are determined to rob me, please kindly exchange your hand gun for a knife. lmao. Oh wait, you may not even have the chance to ask, because now you're dead. He shot you because he felt like it, and there was nothing you could do to stop him.

Pity I can't buy the product.

Why are Apple spending so much money on advertising when they can't even keep up with demand? Makes no sense.

Since the 9 year old Asians can't work more than 85 hours a week now, they can't keep up with demand.

A lot of these companies also have Agreements with the Manufacturers on when, how, and what they can sell. Maybe Apple has told them to run this promotion to help draw not only sales but accessories sales or like I said above maybe its a promo like the Back to School promo.

I dunno......it doesn't seem like Apple is having a hard time selling their iPad2 accessories, especially the Smart Cover. I don't see why Apple would ask BB to run a promotion in order to sell 3rd party accessories.

I can name one big thing - visual voicemail. I think this is an amazing feature. Instead of waiting for the voicemail system to respond to your button inputs to skip messages so you can finally get to the one you want, you just touch the screen once. Please show me another cell phone that can do this.

As someone else has already pointed out, there are over 200 patents in the phone. While I'm certain that many are related to human factors elements and software, it's likely that there are some hardware patents involved. Only an Apple hardware engineer who was intimately involved in the design of the iPhone would be able to help you out here.

who are you kidding? what part of iphone is not previously existed in technology? yay it has a nice UI, like all other apple products, but the hardware?

remind me, again, what's revolutionary about iPhone?
