The banner is just a collection of current Apple products all the photos are available in the press section of their website. What I don't understand though is if WWDC is going to promo a load of new products why have a banner that is going to be completely out of date? :confused:
Wouldn't it be better to highlight items that will remain or just make it generic. Why not keep it hidden like previous years until the day of the conference.
Who wants to bet nothing new looking at all will be announced just new technology in the same old cases! ;)

WOW!!!! 8 megapixe?!!!!!!! i remember like 5 years ago when i bought a 200$ camera and it was 6 megapixels and it was considered amazing and here is the iphone with a 8!!! ITS CRAZZZYYY:confused:
It is crazy, because with the tiny sensors in cheap cameras (and in the iPhone / iPad) you get the best overall results with a 6 megapixels camera. Anything above that just introduces more noise because you don't get enough light per pixel.

If it's just an upgrade for the 5G iPod, I m gonna be disappointed......at myself. I was holding off to replace my aging 3G iPod, and was gonna wait till 6G (full screen). But if it's just about a larger harddrive, i really could have bought the current one loooong time ago.

It just depends. Motorola was notoriously slow at ramping up production of new chips. Consequently, Apple would release new hardware and buyers would have to wait 1-3 months to receive them. That has since improved since Apple got a lot of bad press from that practice. I'm guessing that you'll have to wait a couple weeks for conroe & woodcrest based systems and perhaps a month for merom.

Nice little bump, right about what I expected except even the low end should have at least 1GB of RAM.
I still have my fingers crossed the website is down because Apple is finally filling the product line hole of a headless machine in between the Mac mini and the Mac Pro for those of us who already have a nice monitor and need something more powerful than a mini but less expensive than a Mac Pro.... A nice mini-Tower using Conroe chips in the $1200-$1800 range would be nice...

I'd pay more for a product Made in America that is contributing to our growing economy and feeding starving, hard working Americans.
To be honest, I'm from Germany and I would never ever pay an extra cent for a product manufactured in the US. The caption "Made in the USA" just suggests "Don't buy me, I'm going to suck". All these products I bought that were made in the US were overpriced and mostly of far worse manufacturing quality than comparable products from Asia or Europe. Just my experience, not that I hate Americans or anything, I like their ideas, creativity, inspiration and stuff, but the rest is better done by other people.

Yeah, Blu Ray players are pretty useless because of the PS3, which is usually cheaper and can play Blu Ray anyway. Of course, my dad got a Blu Ray player before I could say anything :rolleyes:
And I think the digital copy is useless because of Netflix, which can just stream it. The internet is the future for now, not discs.
I don't know about the digital copy being useless. I have netflix and I also add movies to itunes. I see them as complimentary. Some items I do not care to purchase and it is nice to have netflix. On the other hand I like owning movie and TV shows that I really like. Also netflix doesn't have everything I want. And don't forget when traveling, you don't always have good internet.
The Apple TV is nice because it accesses both netflix and my itunes media.
Anyway movies I really like, I tend to buy physical copies anyway and rip them to add to itunes. The digital copy/blu ray is better as I can play the 1080p version once in a while and access it on the computer/ iOS anytime.
I'm looking forward to the release of Lord of the Rings extended edition coming out this summer on blu ray. I believe that has digital copy too.

Shared libraries don't do the coverflow thing I'm pretty sure. It sorta makes sense, as itunes would have to absolutely hammer the server when it's retrieving all the artwork for a particular shared library.
The artwork which gets sent over with songs are actually embedded within the mp3/aac/ale files, meaning that on connection with the shared library you'd have to essentially start streaming every single song in the library to retrieve all the artwork.
I was sort of hoping the apple engineers would have come up with a daap workaround for this. Oh well :(

i agree that the banner is made of all current products, but with the larger Power Mac case it worries me that there will not be a redesign this time around for the casing :(

imho the reason why apple hasnt filled the void of a 12"powerbook equivilent is because they plan on expanding their overall product range. more portable notebooks, tablets, etc. all in the scope of vision
