Hey, i am getting an ipod shuffle, and i am wondering if i should get the dock, or the sport case, I would like the case because it wouldn't get scratched as much and i would like the dock because well frankly i never had one for my other ipod (because they don't exist) and i always wanted one, but even without it i can still use a USB extension cord.

The B&W G3's are nice computers. $200 is a good deal for such a nice Mac. You can find all kinds of upgrades at www.fastermacs.com (http://www.fastermacs.com) . They have processor upgrades, RAM, hard drives, video cards, etc. Their prices seem pretty good. The 800 MHz G3 upgrade is probably the PowerLogix PowerForce G3/800MHz. At fastermacs.com it sells for $229 new (with a 2 year warranty).

Recently I've started getting Safari Windows with just ads, something I used to hate on Windows.
What's the best free Malware scanner for Mac?
Thanks
Safari on OS X reminds me of IE on Windows. I suggest you run a different browser like Chrome or Firefox. Chrome is not as adept at blocking ads as Firefox. As for pages full of ads popping up in Safari, you can disable popups and even disable javascript if you like. Also I seem to remember there is a version of Adblock for Safari. Whatever you do, do NOT leave Safari's "automatically open safe files" switched on! There is very little malware out for OS X, but just within the last few days I heard of one that relied on people running Safari from an Admin account with "automatically open safe files" switched on. The symptom is you got a popup claiming to have found viruses and asking for your credit card to buy some sort of malware protection. It turns you would not be buying anything but you would be giving your credit card to phishers. As for the malware the so called software said it found, there is no such thing. The software that says it found the malware is one of the very few examples of OS X malware in the wild right now.
Never pay for antivirus software for OS X, even from Symantec or McAffee. If you must have antivirus software for peace of mind, I suggest the freeware ClamxAV.

More or less. It mixes it up by asking for artist names, album names, or years instead of just song identification, but otherwise it's pretty similar.

that's the Smooth tool not the Brush tool. If that's what you really get when you click the Brush tool try resetting Illustrator's Preferences:
Move or rename the Adobe Illustrator Preferences file: Users/[user]/Library/
Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS[X] Settings
Then restart Illustrator.

Hello all, from Sydney Australia.
I'm not really new here - but I thought I'd post my story about switching - it wasn't the smoothest but I'm happy I did now :D
I bought my 17" iMac (with student discount of course) and my first thoughts were 'wow' as I lifted it out of the box. I put it on our polished timber floor downstairs, moved the box away and thought about how it could be some sort of sculpture! Amazing. I had bought it sight unseen, and I'd never seen or used OS X. My only experience with Mac's had been in first year uni.
Our house is completely Windows based... and so is our family business. I look after something like 11 PC's between home and work, so the reason I wanted a Mac was so I could come home to something with no hassle.
Wouldn't you know it though, within several weeks, I came home and my iMac was switched off (I normally let it sleep). I turned it back on, but not much happened. It got past the grey screen, I saw the 'Welcome to Macintosh' screen and that blue bar went wizzing past, but after that I saw the blue screen that comes up before the desktop and nothing more. I was very disappointed :(
After much help from some of you Macrumors guys (thank you!) I gave up and took my iMac to my local AppleCentre who kindly sorted it for me... I'd been able to back up my files by booting into OS9.
Anyway, it's now 9 months later and I couldn't be happier! I bought some more RAM on eBay for my iMac which made it snappier. I love OS X, it's just so 'nice' compared to Windows XP I use at work.
I'm looking forward to my first video editing session - of my cousin's wedding in May. Should be a challenge, and I hope I can show everyone just how good my iMac is!
Are there many Australians or Sydney-siders here?
Derek.

IE for Mac stopped being developed years ago, and doesn't really support CSS. Some things might work, but most things won't.
Forget IE for Mac and test your pages in Safari (Mac), IE (Win), Firefox (Mac/Win/Linux) and Opera (Mac/Win/Linux). If it looks good, and the same, in those, you're safe... ;)

I have had the iPod since December, it is in perfect working condition and has the January apps, the battery is in very good condition, the iPod has a few scratches around its edge one on the top and one next to the home button but non visible on the screen. I am selling it with a Belkin brown lever velcro case. When the iPod is in the case no scratches are visible. iPod comes with the box, case, headphones, USB wire and iPod touch dock adapter. I am ideally looking for around 150 (**Typo sorry guys!) with shipping.

Are you using the latest Adium beta, the current release 1.4.1 has major issues with msn.
There is a beta 1.4.2b1 that fixes many issues.
Download it here:
http://beta.adium.im/
Since its beta, i find it very glitchy...
I've had these troubles for YEARS with Adium. Fortunately, I just gave up on using anything but Adium for my MSN-ing, and now that MSN is slowly dying off (at least amongst my friends), I've actually moved to iChat w/Facebook chat instead.
Seems that's what all the cool kids are doing these days.

hey
I have had my mac book pro since early 2010 and have been beginning to notice that when I use it and it is plugged in to the charger cord the left side of the bottom of the computer gets REALLY REALLY hot! It cools off if I unplug the unit, but sometimes I want to work plugged in. Plus I am just not getting the battery life I used to get. On average I have about 4 hours of battery.... Used to get 7+. Any thoughts?
It's normal that the MagSafe adapter and your MBP will get hot while charging. As for your battery life, reset the SMC and calibrate your battery. Instructions for both in the link below. This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:
