Like my Nuvi for the Garmin interface and have been waiting for an iPhone app to take its place. Have used Google maps and like others stared at the blue dot in a field of grey where no map has loaded due to slow or no cell coverage. Garmin dropped the ball on the decision to not load the map data as a package. All of North America is around 1GB on my Nuvi and I'd gladly devote that space on my iPhone. Whats more our iPod 4G could have been a nice GPS in my wife's car with the maps loaded. No cell connection for the iPod means no maps and no way to use it for a second Garmin purchase. Lost revenue from our two devices Garmin but if you guys in Kansas fix that problem and have all of the map data included you've got two more sold!

Called 2 local stores...on the second one, they were literally ringing up the last 3 they had (16GB)...however, she called her district manager who was heading down to her store from one further north (about 65 miles away) that had 8 left. The manager is bringing 2 down with him on his way. Those 2 WILL be picked up by me after work!

I arrived at 5 and the line already went around the corner and 2/3 down the block. By 6 it went around more than half the park behind.
FWIW, I thought the security was quite good, relaxed but effective.
I am going to guess well over 1200 people there by 6.

Are you people seriously applauding this? What a waste of our tax dollars!! I do contracts with the Navy every single day and I know that the technology that they have will not be benefited by the use of iPad/iPod/iPhone. The military does not offer wi-fi to their staff on base. Everything is hard wired and the conduit is sealed with a tamper proof silicon. The Government is very very particular about their SIPRnet (as they call it). Without wi-fi, what use is the iPad for the military other than to give them a little treat and waste our tax dollars? They already have mobile equipment in the vehicles that is far superior to Apple's products.
I dunno, maybe they wanna hone there skills by playing cod4 on an ipad on a rest day!

They've already asked their developers to change app resolutions once. 3 screen sizes will never fly with developers.

Question for folks who have gone (or purchased ticket voucher). From the looks of it, you buy a voucher, which you then redeem online for a ticket, correct? Can you buy the voucher now, but fill in the attendee ticket details at a later time? I'm going to buy, but there's the off chance I won't be able to attend, so I'd like to give the ticket to someone else. The ticket holder needs photo ID to get in, so they obviously can't use my ticket. So I'd have to wait until I know for sure to claim the voucher, or put the other developer's information in.
Can that be done? Or do I need to claim the ticket at time of purchase? Based on the recent track record of WWDC selling out in a week, I'd like to make the purchase ASAP. Thanks.

Agreed. I also find it absurd that people think we can solve this now as opposed to over time. It took at least 8 years to get where we are, we can't fix it on one.

This $20 discount is a kick in the nuts from Apple.
It's in line with their CPP published prices for their computers, which see only modest $20-30 discounts over the education retail pricing for the 5- and 10-packs.
Since the iPad education retail price is $499 and the package price already down $20 to $479, it would be unusual for the pack to be discounted more than the iMacs and MacBooks. Honestly it's a bit of a surprise that they have the same package discount as the 13" MacBook Pro on the iPad. When you consider that they're already getting education pricing and tax exemptions, plus other perks and extras from their package purchase, it's not such a bad deal.
So how is it that Apple can only give the education sector a $20 discount per device when Amazon can buy this device from Apple (who is making a profit), resell it to consumers, AND STILL MAKE A PROFIT?
Profit might be an overstatement. It's my understanding that most resellers don't get more than a 10% discount over retail price from Apple, and Amazon is a master of the loss leader. It often sells iPods and other popular items at near-break-even to attract other sales. It famously sells its eBooks at a loss.
As far as I know, there aren't many electronics manufacturers that even offer education discounts, so it's difficult to hang Apple for not giving bigger discounts.
Most offer some form of institutional purchase discounts.

i don't know why wally world and target are complaining, this will not hurt DVD sales. like what was said. there are allot of people that cant afford new Mac's to play there movies (my problem). or live outside of the city and don't have a high speed connection (cause they are to far out) or just cant afford satellite internet. i like to have the original copy (in dvd format) i know allot of other people that also like to have a dvd of the movie.

But I'm saving up to buy a nice Mac in a few months (come on 970) to use. To work on. Audio/Video/Imaging. I know you can do those on a PC. But why would you want to?

I'd rather have secure and acurate than cheap and (sometimes) a little more speed.

To me, your user name perfectly sums up the risk of messing with your Dock. There are all kinds of threads on this forum from (usually novice) users who run into big headaches from doing what you propose to do. If you were an expert user, you wouldn't be asking this, you'd know what to do and what not to do.
