I cant. I have no money after paying for school, lawyers fees in GC. As I said my company did not pay a dime for getting GC work done. Had to bear all expenses myself. Dont even know whether company will pay for H1 renewal next year.
Do it yourself, like I did. It will cost you $350+mailing expenses. You can find many victories on our forum. It works.

I have a passport expiry and new visa stamping conflict. My last visa stamping expired on Oct 01, 2009. And my current (Indian)passport expiration date is July 04, 2011. Also, my H1b approval is under the transfer process (so I don't have the new I-797 as yet). I'm planning to travel to India sometime in January, expecting the new H1b approval soon now.
Should i get my passport renewed here before leaving for India ? I believe you can renew one year in advance of pasport expiry date either here or in IndiaI'm worried if they will give me a new passport valid only for a year as a note on the website says "A passport is also issued for one year in cases of expiry of valid U.S. residence visa. In such cases, applicants have to apply for extension of validity as soon as valid U.S. Residence visa is approved. There is no fee for extension of validity of passport."

Hi,

I have an MS but was filed under eb3 with priority date of march 2005 (didn't knew about priority categories at that time). Now I am feeling a bit stagnant in my current job, but have always felt myself constrained thinking about restarting the GC process from zero. Given the current eb3 condition and my priority date what would you suggest I should do? Switch job, get a salary raise, restart under eb2 or continue doing whatever I do hoping eb3 will become current in some reasonable time and i'll be free ?

no offense garfield, many of us here hate to give any suggestions/advice, if we see an empty profile. why dont you update your profile first. time and again many of us have asked many people who come up with a new thread first post asking advice for their individual situation, i would urge everyone here to stop advicing/suggesting anyone who does not have their profile complete. If this is what it takes to complete their profile, my vote is to enforce this.

Have you sent the renewal papers to the right location? If not, after Mar 26th receive date, the applications will be sent back to the applicant - to be sent to the correct lock box.

Adding to the scenario above, what if the old company (which got I-140 approval) agress to continue the GC process? In that case, can't we apply for H1 extension with Company B using approved I-140 with Company A? After all, GC is a future employment application

I have just run though the mirror lock up procedure, and I was OK with that. I'll take a look at the sensor with a magnifying glass, see if I can see the spec. Failing that, I'll get down to the specialist.
All this does make me wonder if th DSLR route was wise http://www.dphoto.us/forum/images/icons/icon9.gif

I travelled to India first time after coming to USA. The airline people did not take my I94 from me. I was not aware if I had to turn it in. I came back and got another I94. Now what do I do with my old I94? My 140/485 is in progress.
Same thing happend with me too. I gave them, they said they don;t want.
I tried to give evey point of my transit, nobody took it.
Don't know how to handle.

Guys,
I am proposing a "IV Annual Meet", Not all of IV need to meet in one place, but all the state chapters can meet in their local states on this one day. We should make this a annual affair. ATLEAST, we should meet once a year. It should be for a whole day, 10 - 5. Every one who wants to visit can RSVP, we can do it in a grand way with lunch etc...we can cover the expenses with a donation of $25 per person .
When ?
First Saturday of the first week of November ? This way we do not disturb people's summer time vacations.
How does this help ?
First, it will help to meet State members face to face.
We can invite distinguished people to our meeting to give a speech, so we get press coverage.
We can decide our next steps.
Basically we can do a lot.
We can do some voting too. I (lot of other IVans too) have always wanted to change our groups name to "LegalImmigrationVoice", (no offense to the people who coined this name, they have started a organisation that all Legal Immigrants are benefited, they should find a place in US history books ! :) ) so we do not give the benefit of doubt to anyone that we represent ill-legal immigrants also.
Every one please share your thoughts as what we can do in this annual meet.

I had a quick question to add to this....
If one is on F1 and his/her spouse (who is on H1B and has filed for a Green Card) ends up with a current priority date, can the person on F1 file for the Green Card along with the spouse? Or does one have to be on H4 to ride along with the H1's COS?

yeah the meeting was really good..I got to meet many people but had to leave a bit early. For a first meeting (for me) I got an overview of IV etc and put faces to the handles I see in here. For future meetings I think we should
1) establish action items
2) find volunteers to carry out specific action items
3) set drop-dead dates for each item
4) find a conduit for communicating back the results /feedback from the implemented tasks (yahoo groups works fine)
5) list out our progress/obstacles/lessons learnt

Try Wells Fargo or Chase. They have been quite good about lending me money for a couple of rental properties.
Also ask them for rebates as they are eager to get business.
Another one I came across was Penfed.org. They may work for you since you seem to be borrowing for a primary residence.

Hello IV Freinds,
I checked my mail last Saturday, got Cards and welcome approval notices in mail. Status at USCIS website still shows all cases pending. I had called my Senators office for follow up week before as processing dates also had also passed.
I appreciate IV for providing this website for sharing our immigration issues and concerns in this long journey.
Good luck to all IV members who are still awaiting for good day to come.

* Today, the Senate also passed this bill by agreeing to the House H.R. 2638 which the House paased earlier. Here is the vote count. This bill now goes to the President for his signature. The President is expected to sign all of these bills, including Consolidated Continuing Appropriation, Reauthorizations of Non-Miniter Religious Worker Special Immigration, and Conrad 30 International Medical Graduates National Interest Waiver bills before October 1, Wednesday. Otherwise, the federal government is destined to shut down and the immigration reauthorization laws will sunset and gone. The President is anticipated to sign these bills by September 30, 2008.
* Sad part is that the immigration reauthorization is valid only until March 6, 2009 just as the continuing appropriation act. Still, it is a good news in that most of the pending I-360 non-minister religious worker immigration petitions, Conrad-30 based I-140 petitions, and EB-485 applications related to these petitions are likely taken care of before March 6, 2009. The USCIS is currently holding in abeyance these petitions and related EB-485 applications pending the Congressional action. Since the Congress has now cleared the path, as soon as the President signs the bills, the USCIS is likely to pick up these petitions and 485 applications swiftly. Unfortunately, the Conrad 30 based EB-485 for Indians and Chinese may still have to deal with the visa number retrogressions in October 2008 Visa Bulletin. The non-religious workers do not have visa number problem as the visa number for these categories will remain current in October.

5. My wife has an H1 also, so as she used her EAD(which came as my dependent) not with the company which hold's her H1, in this case what would be the status of her H1, can she quit her present job and do another job using her H1, is that H1 still valid.
I think she is ok to switch to H1 but you all need to go out of US & Enter with that H1B Visa for switching plus she has to work with H1B sponcer employer.
Any way share us output after consulting good attorney.

My H1B expire on 9/30 as well as my I-94 also expires 9/30. Some how I miss my H1B extenction. I have EAD that is valid until next year mid. I am working right now what is my current status? Is they any way still i can extend my H1B.
My employer is saying there is no way to extend H1B after crossing the last date. You have to work on EAD.
But my question my I94 is expired on 9/30 then what is my current staus.

had asked my lawyer this question a while ago. his answers were:
- its still possible to extend H1.
- depending on your luck eithe ryou get an I94 attached with H1 extension in which case all is cool, you are back on H1. Or, you would need to travel across the border and come back, to "Activate" the H1.
My employer is saying there is no way to extend H1B after crossing the last date. You have to work on EAD.

Pappu -- Is there anything i need to do besides sending the e-mail. I've sent the e-mail twice and its been a week since the contribution has made. I am by no means waiting desperately waiting to get access to donor forums but i am curious. Please let me know what i am missing. If the team is busy, may be IV should think about looking for more volunteers.
