So this kid is a straight A student and is very bright. But he argues with his parents a lot and, like any other teenager, is disrespectful. Should any of these factors influence a parent's decision? On one hand, he has proven to be responsible, saving money and getting good grades. On the other hand, he's moody and often shuts himself off from the rest of the family.YES! I strongly feel that what you've mentioned definitely has an impact! If he is bright, he is more likely to get in trouble and if he tends to 'shut himself off from the rest of the family' then shooting him down when he finally opens up and tells the truth and offers some insight into his 'closed' life would be detrimental in my book!
By all means, talk about all of this with him instead of just thinking it over. If he is bright and has shown responsibility as you say, then give him the chance to discuss this situation w/ you. Even if you aren't comfortable w/ allowing him to, then say so! Tell him that you'd rather he didn't but that honestly, you will support him if he still chose too. Tell him that you know he is bright and responsible and assuch you'd expect no less from him than to practice safe sex should things escalate to that level.
But he has shown initiative in telling you the truth... show him the respect he deserves because yes, respect is a two-way street. He has respected the parent (sorry got carried away by saying 'you' and whatnot instead of 'his parent') enough to bring this up the parent should do well by him and return that respect.

Sounds intuitively reasonable, do you have any good evidence to support this bold assertion, or just a feeling?
Trying, trying real hard.
Wow, just wow. Upon what do you base that assessment?
Really, what i'm saying is that dressing provocatively is not an invitation for rape. I feel that immature men misinterpret a provocative dress as an invitation. And immature women dress provocatively to get attention.
If a man is sexually driven to rape then dressing provocatively definitely doesn't help the situation.
Just my opinion.
My evidence? common sense through experiences, i've seen this situation enough.
Okay, what do you think about the Sharia Law?

Like many other mid-sized and large companies, my current company also uses Lotus Notes. One of the features I like about Notes is address search. I can partially type in the name of my colleague and Notes retrieves the rest of the name (without me creating the address book). It gets awefully slow after the local server (meaning, the notebook's internal HD) reaches 1 GB data (for email); So, I had to create new local every 1 GB.
The Mac support for Notes would be good as that might open up a possibility my current employer's IT department might allow MBP for a company-issued notebook. As of now, it is all Dell.
Now that Notes will become more Mac friendly, the only other obstacle would be using AS400 database via Ramba.

Great thread with a lot of good and bad input.
Bottom line is this; the answer lies in what fits your company needs.

Nobody really answered my question. I hate to repost it again just trying to find an answer. I tried to call the at&t rep and they don't know what going on.
I had iPhone 3GS 32GB had it about almost a year. They let me do an early upgrade for the new iPhone 4 in June when it came out for the price of $299 with a two year agreement.
The question I have is let just say the new iPhone 5 comes out with the same price point let say June release like last year. By this new $50 thing does that mean I pay for $549 price point or can I just pay the $299 plus the two year agreement like I did last year?
Thanks guys
If the iPhone were to come out in June, you would not be able to get the $299 price with a new two year agreement. You would have to pay the $549 if you want the new phone immediately.
The reason that AT&T was so generous with their upgrades last summer is because they knew that the iPhone was coming to Verizon and they wanted to lock in as many new two year contracts as possible.
Here's what you do if you want the $299 price and you are not eligible:
1) Open a new line on your account. That will get you the new iPhone and the $299 price. You will have to get a new number tough.
2) Next, call and cancel the line on your 3gs. The ETF should be about $205.
3) Sell your iPhone 4 on Ebay or Craigslist. If it's in really good shape, you should be able to get $400-$450 easy. This will cover your ETF and leave you about $200 extra.

Hey, Apple!!!
Can you PLEASE include separate email signatures for separate email boxes?!?!?
+eleventybazillion!!!!!!!
Might want to check the signature app in the store. I've had it for over a year, you can choose up to 6 signatures. Use to be called signature pro, but my app says just Signature.
FWIW.

I realize that you didn't question the legality but another poster (that I originally quoted) did. I am aware that the buyer will not be required to pay, and he shouldn't be. I just can't stand people that automatically declare something illegal because they think it is wrong. It seems to be a common practice these days.
too many immature people on this board, and people who think they know everything about everything :p which is why i haven't posted much over the past couple of months.

As far as I'm aware, I think I'm correct in saying that FaceTime ONLY works via wi-fi (non JB).
My question, then, is this - if I had 1 iPhone 4 connected to a 2nd iPhone 4 via Personal Hotspot (so in theory - it IS on wi-fi), would FaceTime work to a 3rd compatible device?!

I wasn't saying anything against donating blood, I commend that. I just pointed out that there aren't that many potential donors here to actively support that cause.
Please can you clarify your statement about the lack of potential donors?

I think some people here think this is suddenly going to allow us to drag an image from our desktop to the .Mac mail page, and attach it to a new message. That isn't what they are describing as "drag and drop". They are talking about moving messages around in the web browser window.

Yes you are certainly charging way too little. My basic sites start at $500 and go up from there depending on what the client wants. Usually I charge it by the job and in some cases, there will be add on's and I usually charge $50-$75 per hour for that work. I have a few NPO's and for them I start my quotes to them at $300 for the job.

Apple should really diversify their suppliers anyway, which is what they look like they are doing. Cut Samsung supply by 50%, and threaten all of it if they don't get their act together. Surely Samsung doesn't think that that they can bring in this kind of revenue on their own merit. Outside of LCD televisions, Samsung has an image problem, and even that has only improved in the last few years.
I hate these ridiculous statements. Samsung is a huge conglomerate that builds everything from microchips to 100 story sky scrapers. They don't need Apple to survive.

really ?
looking at _production_ cars:
Toyota Prius from 2009: drag coefficient: 0.25
Tatra 77a from 1935: 0.21
Rumpler Tropfenwagen from 1921: 0.28
the late 30ties were actually the high point in aerodynamics being the focus in automobile manufacturing: there are countless of other examples from the time which simply never made it into production because of the war:
like the BMW K1 prototype which also achieved a value of 0.23 despite being a full 4 door saloon
another interesting car: the Fiat Turbina prototype: which had a coefficient of 0.14 (a record for 30 years) but any further development shelved because of problems with the expieremental fuel gazzling overheating turbine engine ;)
Thanks! That was fun following up on some of these early cars. Some of them are just gorgeous. It is amazing and inspiring that engineers working with slide - rulers and wind tunnels (and without fancy computers) could achieve the same kind of drag coefficients on their designs that modern supercomputers can come up with.
However - I still think my point stands ("Steadiness"). While small production cars may have been aerodynamic - the industry average was not. In fact I could argue that as engine efficiencies improved, industry wide, aerodynamics got worse because the overall mileage stayed much the same (or improved slowly).
