Why reform income tax? Get rid of it. Institute a federal property tax (not just real estate) with a moderate cut off (like, say, the first $60K). You can obscure income with all manner of accounting tricks, stuff is much harder to hide.
Yes, it would be a logistical nightmare to get implemented, but once in place it would be much simpler (not that simple means fair, necessarily), and we would be back to the original intent of the constitution.

I think people are in contracts and don't want to pay an arm and a leg to get out of them. Also people know that a new iphone is rumored to be out in the Summer/Fall so why buy an old model.

It is a toy. You can't seriously think that professionals are going to depend on Photoshop for iPad and throw away their computer can you? That's like throwing away your computer because GarageBand is also available on the iPad, and attempting to produce an album on an iPad. Impossible.
No matter what Steve says, it is a toy! I think it is brilliant you can do these things on such a simple product for the average user, but they are nothing more than for... the average user.

Jesus I wish the US was like that (wrt cell phone service). The hoops you have to jump through to get even pre-paid service in the US are truly ridiculous. If there is a major disappointment for me about this keynote, it's that it looks like the iphone will be carrier locked at least until '08, but we'll see. I was hoping Apple would sell the phones unlocked, and start the migration in the US away from carrier subsidies.

These exclusive carrier deals stand a much better chance at killing this than competition from any other device manufacturer. Cingular, Verizon, Sprint etc...they're all the same with equally poor service. The FCC loves to support little monopolies and we the users are forced into a market with poor selection of both devices and carriers. Let's hope this prompts another revolution in the carrier landscape.

I called up CS (to talk about an unauthorized charge) and then the CS rep let me know of the Unlimited M2M plan. Switched it and it was rather painless.

Web designers will just have to become more sophisticated. They will have to learn to work with relative units. For example a button size should be specified as "m times the lenght of this string in the current user specified font" and a image size rather then being fixed might be "80% in the frames width as set by the user

New Airport Extreme - cost twice what it should.
Yeah, I dont have component or an HD TV at the moment, I have a better box for wireless than any airportex, and I'd rather have a cheap phone that wont be janked than such a flash phone with only 8gb ipod ability.
I want my widescreen 80gb iPod please.

The SE/30 is surprisingly desirable among classic 68k guys. Unlike the regular SE, its much faster and supports 128MB of RAM. If its as nice as you say, I would be well over $100 for it.

Lame! I just had an Early_Unit_End on the p6900 I was 60% though. What a waste. Must have been a bad WU because this computer has been rock stable so far, not so much as a hiccup. And to add insult to injury the replacement WU is a 2684, the slowest bigadv there is.

After I switched to Verizon, AT&T sent me a letter offering all sorts of deals if I'd change my mind (although they didn't offer to buy out my new 2-year Verizon contract).

maybe i'm looking at this with a closed mind, but what else can they add to a phone that isn't out there already? i mean, e-mail, browser, talking, texting, IMing, music, camera, calendar, note pad, games, voice recording it's all already out there. i guess if you can sync your iTunes having video playback that'd be kind of new... but i have video on my razr it just holds like a 4 second video.
iPod scrollwheel and interface, end of story. There are music playing phones out there, but their interfaces are all clunky compared to the iPod. I think the idea with the iPhone will be that when you are not using the phone features, you can use it just like the iPod. Which probably means that it will be a slider phone (like the LG Chocolate except with a real scrollwheel instead of a face one), but we'll see.

After fratting around trying to get the concept of a modular website finalised in my head, I seem to be in the domain now of php and mySQL/web driven database programming - the dogs nuts way to achieve my current plan for a bilingual site.
We have the corporate image, we will provide all the artistic stuff, we want a dare I say, code head with an appreciation for snappy and very clean websites.
As far as monies, we are not asking for a freebie, at all, I want this thing to rock, but I am not going to roll over to the corporate master programmers out there who spend more on coffeee accounts than most humans consume on running their cars.
We are coming up with creative ways to finance various aspects of our project, some involve work now pay later, others are for a slice of a project's ownership. In the case of this website construction, anyone out there who seriously knows what they are doing, is inbetween jobs, or is striking out on their own and wants to earn good but not greedy money on a very good project please ask and I will send you our apparently well conceived and "detailed at a high level" spec (I can say it is good and detailed because one of these big time outfits thought it would be a really fun and novel addition to their CV, but hand over exorbitant sums, perlease)
For the successful programmer we will ensure regular and meaningful payments till the bill is paid off in full.
The quote has to be real world, not full of little tricks to add to the bill for a slight change in spec or maintain some sort of limiting control prohibiting us from being able to update our site whenever we want. (I was in the estimating game so I can smell an "extras motivated wide boy" from a mile off) and you have to like being pummeled with creativity, because our designer guy is Picasso on the PC.
